Food for Thought this October Half Term at the Elmsleigh Centre

This October half term, Elmsleigh Shopping Centre in Staines will be continuing its mission to ‘Get Staines Growing’, by hosting a fantastic family food event on Saturday 24th October and children’s workshops on Tuesday 27th October.

From 10am-4pm on Saturday 24th, shoppers will be treated to amazing food carving displays, demonstrating how to make healthy food fun for the whole family. The event will be run in partnership with local garden centre, Vermeulens, and online grow-your-own specialists Urban-Allotments.com, who will both be in-Centre on the day handing out free seeds, offering expert advice and giving away some amazing prizes.

On Tuesday 27th October, Elmsleigh will run free children’s fruit and veg printing workshops from 10am to 4pm throughout the day, educating little ones about healthy food whilst allowing them to get creative.

Peter Miles, Centre Manager at Elmsleigh Shopping Centre is confident the food events will be a big hit with shoppers:

‘I’m thrilled we can bring the next instalment of our campaign to Get Staines Growing to the Centre over the half term. It’s really important to us that we provide free entertainment for local families during the school break, and that we push the message that growing your own veg is simple, rewarding and healthy. We’re even giving away free seeds packs, and making sure we’ve got the experts on hand to answer all shoppers’ queries so there’s no excuse not to get started!’

Head to Elmsleigh Shopping Centre on Saturday 24th October between 10am and 4pm for some great grow-your-own freebies, advice and food-themed entertainment. Head back to the Centre on Tuesday 27th October with the little ones between 10am and 4pm for the free workshops.
